Synopsis
We should not fear the truth.
Anna Macy left Kettering when she was just 14, shortly after her best friend, Gillian Baxter mysteriously disappeared. The two girls had been playing in the forbidden forests outside Kettering when they saw strange lights in the sky. Eight hours later, Anna was found alone, terrified and covered in blood. 15 years on, Anna returns to find the town struggling to survive. The forests have been marked for logging and the community is being torn apart by passionate but violent clashes between environmentalists and the local loggers.

The Kettering Incident is one part Twin Peaks and another part X-Files, put together fantastically and molded in the heart of Tasmania. I was really surprised with this “miniseries” as most Australian made shows are soap dramas but this one had an intricate storyline that was woven into the Tasmanian habitat.
Elizabeth Debicki has fantastic range, even more so that she has starred in many projects since this one and will definitely be a bigger star in the future. She portrays the haunted Anna Macy who happens to mysteriously return to Kettering, 15 years since the disappearance of her close friend that also happens to coincide with a new girl’s disappearance.
One of the more impressive points of this series…

Holy shit this was good.
I usually don’t even try to log tv shows here, but I loved this show and I implore people to watch it, especially if they like Twin Peaks, X-Files, and/or any good detective/mystery/thriller. It is currently on amazon prime, and as far as I know it was not renewed for a second season by its Australian network, which is a shame! Because it’S GOOD!!!
It’s like Twin Peaks without the camp. My dad and I would stop between episodes and speculate as to what was going on. I’m still not sure about anything, and ultimately I think that’s a great strength of the show: to leave as much up to the viewer’s imagination as possible,…

Been meaning to watch this for ages and criminal that it took me so long but I gotta say.. I loved it! I’m slightly biased but its beautifully shot and was super creepy, using the tassie landscape and culture to weave an intricate and sometimes surreal story that I really related to growing up on the island. Unfortunately the end was shit but it was totally worth the ride and it should have gained far more recognition.

Used up my weekend watching this and I really enjoyed. Elizabeth Debicki was really great her performance in this was fucking incredible and her range is excellent. I felt like at times there was a lot of going on but found the overall mystery very engaging. If you can find this on ITunes if seriously recommend you check it out.

Ironic that even shows that were supposed to be more than one season end up on Letterboxd. It wasn't meant as a miniseries and it sure as hell doesn't end like one.
Leaves many questions unanswered and throws a bunch at you in the very end. I would have hoped for a more satisfying end but apparently season 2 was scrapped so...
Here we are...

psychotic alien dream girl!!!!! it turns out for a show to be good you don't actually have to answer any questions ever, you can just keep making Elizabeth Debicki run around shirtless with a nosebleed and THE fuckass bob of the decade

X-Files and Twin Peaks have a baby!
Even liked the last epsiode, for sticking with the tempo and not going overboard.
But... Twin Peaks is a high bar and this is missing a more iconic soundtrack.
That would have made it a 10/10. -

i love limited series. it's pretty much the only time i watch a series anymore. but 90 minute episodes are SO ridiculous when you really think about it 😭
